As well as the three village centres there are many residents living in the outlying hamlets situated throughout the Parish.  Parts of the Parish are located within the Peak District National Park, the parish comprises spectacular moorlands, farmland and the Linacre Reservoirs.

The Parish Council has responsibility for Village Halls at Cutthorpe and Wadshelf, play areas at Cutthorpe and Wadshelf and the recreation ground at Cutthorpe.

The Parish Council meets eleven times a year.  Meetings commence at 7.00pm on the second Monday of the month and alternate between Cutthorpe Village Hall, The School Room Old Brampton and Wadshelf Village Hall.
